Communications Overview:

Communications management encompasses the planning, monitoring, and revision of all
communication, within and outside an organization.  It includes how information is organized and
shared within an organization, network, or through communication technology.

Significant areas requiring management control include: 1) Development of organizational
communication strategies, 2) Design of internal and external communications directives, and 3)
Information Flow Management.  Note: New technology can require constant innovation for
communication channels to remain relevant.

A major requirement for effective management is maintaining organized and clear channels of
communication within any organization.  Its absence is an impediment to achieving overall objectives.
The overall purpose of communication management is to ensure all parties have access to
information and hopefully are in agreement with content and significance to the organization.
